Midwives in Ontario support the woman's right to choose where she will give birth and believe that home is an appropriate place for healthy women to give birth. As midwives are the only health care professionals currently attending homebirths, we do give priority to serving women who have made the informed choice to give birth at home. We also plan to offer our clinic space for births and our midwives plan to have hospital privileges at both sites of the Rouge Valley Health System- Centenary site at Neilson and Ellesmere in Scarborough and the Ajax-Pickering site on Harwood south in Ajax by September 2004.
