Client Records And Confidentiality
Your midwives will discuss your care amongst themselves and with any students that you have agreed to take part in your care. You may have access to your midwifery records at any time; the information is yours. If you go out of town for a vacation or on business, please let is know and we will supply you with a copy of your record to carry with you should you wish. Towards the end of your pregnancy, we will give you copies of your antenatal records to carry with you so that they are readily available for your labour and birth. Please bring them with you to clinic visits so that we may keep them updated. At your final postpartum visit we will provide you with a copy of your records to keep. We will retain the original files and should you need them at any time, you may request copies of them at no charge. We respect each client's right to complete confidentiality. At times, we may wish to use someone's experience to illustrate a point and we do so without using names or identifying features. We appreciate having pictures or videos given to us that we can share with other expectant parents. You are welcome to submit birth announcements and/or birth stories to be posted on our website. We maintain a list of clients who are willing to be linked with other clients to provide peer support. If you would like to be placed on this list, please let us know.
